Cross-border cooperation has taken many forms over time at the European level. Thus, the first forms of cross-border cooperation at the European level were the Euroregions or other more recent forms, the European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation EGTC. All forms of cross-border cooperation at European level have been shown to be functional, achieving their proposed objectives, demonstrating cross-border cooperation and their effectiveness, but there are also examples that have not been proven to be functional. Thus, at the level of the European Union, through specific EU policies, institutions, programs and specific instruments that touch the field of cross-border cooperation, special attention has been shown in the direction of improving this field, so that all the combined elements offer the population that is in a space cross-border a high quality of life in its area.
Academic aim:
Operationalization of specific concepts: Cross-border cooperation, Economic, social and territorial cohesion, specific cross-border institutions, as well specific programs that operate at the cross-border level. Thus, once familiar with the specific concepts, methods, specific tools, the students develop skills in the direction of proposing solutions and improvements regarding the efficiency of the dimension of increasing social cohesion at the CBC level.
Learning objectives
The course aims to develop skills and competencies specific to the specialist in the field of cross-border cooperation: inter-relationship, the ability to analyze, interpret, research subjects that touch the cross-border area, to know the programs and policies that interfere with this field so that they can create associations and correlations to demonstrate the growth of social cohesion at a cross-border level.
